Get ready to laugh, Düsseldorf

Strictly Stand Up is coming – The English Comedy Night

hosted by Christian Schulte-Loh

Strictly Stand Up: that’s the English-language comedy show from Quatsch Comedy Club, the oldest and most famous comedy venue in Germany. Five times a year, we fly in top English-speaking club comics from all over the world to perform live on stage, to give you stand-up comedy the way it was meant to be: up close, in your face, and live.
After more than five successful seasons in Berlin, we thought it was high time to let another German city share in the laughs, and we picked Düsseldorf. Starting in February, you’ll be able to enjoy three top international club comics plus one hot local act, always presented by your lovely and talented host, Christian Schulte-Loh. Get that New York and London comedy club feeling right in your own back yard. And each show is always for one night only – blink and you’ll miss it!

Look forward to these fabulous comedians:

Joe Eagan (CAN)
Joe is a Canadian stand-up comic who has lived near Copenhagen since 2000 and has performed in over 25 countries worldwide. Look forward to his unique brand of “sit-down comedy”, in which he talks about what it’s like to live in Europe as a Canadian and much more.
If the EU ever feels like it needs a standup to fill the void left by Brexit, then Eagan’s your man. – Copenhagen Post

Scott Capurro (USA)
You might recognize him as “Aunt Jack” from Mrs. Doubtfire or from his numerous TV experiences. Scott splits his time between his native San Francisco and the UK and is returning to our stage for the first time since November 2015, although he’d really rather have a show on Amazon, because his husband wants to live in Brazil.
He’s an undoubted masterclass in audience interaction. FIVE STARS – Edinburgh Fringe Magazine

Carey Marx (UK)
Our headliner for the evening, Carey is another Quatsch veteran, having graced our stage in September 2015. A circuit veteran, Marx concocts his own blend of dark humour with mischief and glee. His wilful disregard for the controversial and taboo is tempered with his ability to find joy in the most unexpected places.
“Obscenely funny, hilarious and curiously intelligent” Informed Edinburgh

Hot Local Act: Michael Jäger (D/NL) Michael is a German-born, Amsterdam-based comedian who studied Psychology and Economics. After studying Economics, he came to despise businesspeople. After studying Psychology, he despised all people. But after starting comedy, he fell in love with people. We hope you’ll fall in love with his comedy in Düsseldorf.
“I don’t understand your comedy, but people tell me you’re funny” – My Mum

„Great comedy club that also hosts English shows a few times a year. There’s a bar service right to your seat so you can enjoy drinks while you watch a show. They also serve basic snacks like nachos and hot dogs.“

„There for the English night, everyone on stage was brilliant starting from Christian Schulte-Loh as hilarious MC for the evening. The staff was caring and the service fast without the typical grumpiness of the waiters in the city.“
